癌を引き起こす遺伝子「POKEMON」

ポケモンUSAの抗議で癌を引き起こす遺伝子「POKEMON」が変更に

世界的な科学論文雑誌「Nature」の最新号によれば、今年1月号に掲載された論文で、癌を引き起こすと考えられる遺伝子に「ポケモン」と名付けた事に関し、株式会社ポケモンの米国法人であるPokemon USAは法的措置を取る旨の抗議を行ったそうです。「Nature」はそれに応じて名称は「Zbtb7」と変更されました。

この論文はメモリアル・スローン・ケタリング癌センターの研究者が投稿したもので、「POK」遺伝子類の1つで「POK erythroid myeloid ontogenic」を略してPOKEMONと呼んでいました。

イメージ的には最悪だけど、別にポケモンに悪意があっての命名じゃないんだからPokemon USAもちょっと大人げないような気もするね。
このまま放置しておけば数年後にはトリビアで取り上げられただろうに、惜しい事をした。
